You might be wondering, who is this man with the smiling face in the photo above? This is Mr. Danny Española, lovingly called “Mang Danny” or “Sir Danny” by the locals. Now what makes Mang Danny special?

Nothing really. Mang Danny has just worked for the Villar SIPAG Foundation for over 22 years - No biggie.

Yes readers, you’ve heard that right. Sir Danny has been working for Villar SIPAG for over two decades as the local instructor and manager of the Las Pinas Arts and Crafts Center. He handles the guided tours at the center, wherein he shows the processes of how the water hyacinth paper is made, how citronella oil is made, gives the history of Villar SIPAG, as well as how coconut husks are made into charcoal briquettes. When asked why has he stayed so long at Villar SIPAG, he simply replied to our Sulyap reporter, “Masaya ako sa ginagawa ko.”

He loves what he does, to impart what he knows about the Villar SIPAG programs. Doing this for 22 years, he knows how each product is made in detail. He also highlights that the smiles on the visitors’ faces, as well as the amazement he sees in their eyes are more than enough for him.

“Masaya ako na nakakapagbigay ako ng kaalaman tungkol sa mga livelihood programs ng Villar SIPAG na hindi lamang nakakatulong sa Las Pinas kundi nakakatulong din sa buong Pilipinas.”

A loyal, hardworking employee here at the Las Pinas Arts and Crafts Center. Now, if you ever see Sir Danny walking around BF Resort, don’t forget to say hi! He loves the young people, and likes to show them around the facility at any time at all.

Thank you Sir Danny, for your 22 years of service. We salute you!
