Stranded no more: OFW Assistance and Repatriation

Did you know that there are over 10 million Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in 170 countries all over the world? OFWs work in foreign countries in order for them to provide for their family back home here in the Philippines. It is love and selflessness that make them stay for long periods of time overseas. It is difficult for these Filipinos to go away from home as their families are situated here, and frankly - nothing can ever replace the love in a Filipino family. Most of our brothers and sisters in foreign lands go home annually or within a few months of working abroad, often bringing bags and balikbayan boxes filled with goodies or “pasalubongs” in them. However, this is not the case for some OFWs as some of our Filipino brothers and sisters are stranded, maltreated, abused and even killed. This is the sad reality of the lives of Filipinos abroad.

In order to help the government in bringing our people back home, the Villar SIPAG and the Villar family have sponsored and endorsed repatriation for our OFWs. The Villars have helped repatriated and have given legal, medical, financial, transportational, livelihood and scholarship grants to over 1,600 overseas Filipino workers and have endorsed over 10,000 cases to the DFA, OWWA, POEA and Post Abroad as of January 2012.
